Dear Aapo,

Thank you so much for capturing my father’s (Bernard W. Nurmsen b. 1907 – d. 1995)  essence in his memorial portrait . The portrait is a tribute to his 47 years of community service and community involvement in Los Angeles. It was an honor to work with you.

You took the time to interview us, hear our stories and go through photographs and community service awards while preparing to do my father’s portrait.  You were so diligent with your questions during our initial meeting that your time and patience resulted in truly capturing his personality in the final portrait.  The interview was a celebration of his life as we relived the stories and awards. Seeing the portrait unveiled at the Estonian Society House, his home away from home and a location he treasured , was wonderful.  I am so glad that to have been part of this project and that your listening and patience resulted in this incredible likeness which will be viewed by generations to come.

It was an honor to work with you and thank you again,

Linda Nurmsen-Freeman
